I love Oracle cards. Next to Tarot cards, they are my top obsession. I always, always use Oracle with my Tarot readings to help clarify and define certain messages. I also feel that certain Oracle decks are great for more focused energy. For instance, if you are wanting to focus solely on animal spirit guides, there are many stunning animal Oracle decks that would be perfect. Perhaps you want to start working with crystals and cards.
Well, guess what? There are some incredible crystal oracle decks out there.
From Angels to Demons and everything in between, there is an Oracle deck out there for everyone. I personally love things that match so last year I chose to use the Nature's Whispers Writing and Creativity Journal along with the Whispers Of Healing Oracle Deck to focus on healing through nature. There was some leftover childhood trauma that I was working through and for me, this deck and journal really helped me focus on the reasons behind it. I would take both my journal and deck every time we would go hiking or camping or anytime I would be outdoors. Nature is a natural healer and with the focused intention of the cards, I was able to see things a bit differently and start a healing process I didn't even realize I needed. The artwork on these cards is stunning and I am able to meditate easily on the images. I also really love the messages on the cards which are uplifting, inspiring and eye-opening. The journal also has full-color pictures in it which was really nice and helped inspire me to write. Needless to say, I love this deck and journal and still use this oracle deck often in readings for myself and clients.
Let's get started on the process. Below I've listed a few steps to start and Oracle Journal. These are merely suggestions on how to get you going. If it's not working for you, change it up. There is no right or wrong way, only the way that is best for your soul. Essentially, use the information that you need but really, do it however the hell you want. This is something that is about you and for you alone.
First of all, the obvious. You will need an Oracle deck. If you already have one, perfect. Just like with Tarot cards, let the deck call you. As long as you have a connection with it, it will be right for what you are doing. If you feel like using more than one Oracle deck, then do that. There is no right or wrong way to do this!
Next, decide how you want to use your Oracle card journal. As I mentioned, this journal can be very specific, for learning about specific topics or Oracle decks only.
Once you’ve decided, then you can either draw a card or cards at random or go card by card if you are learning the deck. Honestly, just do whatever the hell you want with this. Go with your intuition and do what feels right to you.
After you have drawn the card or cards, take a minute or two to meditate on the images.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you look at the card? How does it make you feel? Does it relate to a particular situation in your life? Next, I recommend looking at the book meaning of the card to help you with some ideas on how this card fits into your life. Sometimes it may feel like this card doesn't fit in anywhere. In this case, take it as advice from the Universe. It may be a message telling you about something coming into your life or may give you an idea of where you should be focusing your energy. Regardless, it will be a great starting point for you to write about your day or week.
Personally I will be combining my Tarot and Oracle journals into one this year and using them for meditation and release. To be honest, I, like most other people, can barely find enough time in the day to journal at all. I usually end up doing it right before I fall asleep because it helps me process the events of the day! The more you do it, the easier it is. It can take a couple of months, but then it will be a habit right?
Happy journaling everyone!
